Booking Terms and Conditions

Last Updated: 29 October 2026

Draft — not reviewed by a solicitor. Written to be usable now and to be what a solicitor reviews rather than what they start from.

1. Who you are contracting with

Bookings are with Daniel Boakye, trading as South London Acro ("South London Acro", "we", "us", "our"). You can reach us at bookings@southlondonacro.co.uk, or by post at c/o Kwame & Co., Studio 226, Proposition Studios, 279 Cambridge Heath Road, London E2 0EL.

South London Acro is in the process of becoming a community interest company (South London Acro CIC). Until it is incorporated, the person you are contracting with is Daniel Boakye. When the CIC exists we may transfer these terms to it (clause 16); your booking and your rights are unaffected.

These terms apply to every class, jam, workshop, course and event you book with us. By completing a booking you agree to them, and to the documents that form part of them: the Cancellation and Refund Policy, Taking Part — Risk and Health, the Privacy Notice and the Photography and Filming Policy.

Bookings are for adults aged 18 or over. By booking you confirm that you, and anyone you book for, are 18 or over. See clause 9 of Taking Part — Risk and Health if you want to bring someone younger.

2. Making a booking

A booking is a contract between you and us. It is formed when we confirm it — either when we receive your payment, or, where you have chosen to pay cash on the day, when we email you to confirm we have reserved your place.

Until we send that confirmation, no contract exists and we may decline a booking. If we decline one you have paid for, you get an immediate full refund.

Passing your place to someone else. If you cannot come, you can give your place to a named person, free, up to 48 hours before the start (some events set a different cut-off; the event page says so). Email bookings@southlondonacro.co.uk with their name and email, and we will move the booking into their name. They take the place on these terms, and must be 18 or over. Inside 48 hours, ask us — we will usually say yes, but we need to know who is in the room, for everyone's safety.

Please do not resell a place for more than you paid for it.

Places are limited. Each event has a set number of places — jams have 36 per date — and once they are gone you can join the waiting list (Cancellation and Refund Policy, clause 6).

3. Prices and payment

Prices are shown on the booking page. If an early-bird rate is running, you get it automatically. If we have given you a concession code, enter it when you book and you pay the concession price instead.

Payment is taken by Stripe. We never see or store your card details.

We take reasonable care with pricing, but if a price is obviously wrong — a £45 workshop listed at £4.50 — we are not obliged to honour it. We will tell you before taking payment and you can cancel for a full refund. This applies only to genuine errors a reasonable person would recognise as such, not to prices we later regret.

4. Paying cash on the day

Where a class offers it, you can reserve a place and pay cash on arrival.

Your place is held for you, and payment is due before you take part. If you do not pay, we may decline entry and treat the booking as a late cancellation under clause 6.

The pay-by time. Your confirmation email gives a pay-by time, normally 24 hours before the start. About 48 hours before, we email you a link to pay by card if you would rather. If the class is full and people are on the waiting list, a place that is still unpaid after the pay-by time may be released to the next person waiting. We will email you if we do that, and nothing is charged. If nobody is waiting, your place stays held and you pay on the day as normal. Paying by card before the pay-by time guarantees your place.

A reserved place that goes unused is a place someone else could not book. If cash reservations are repeatedly made and not honoured, we may require payment in advance for future bookings. We will tell you if we do that.

5. Your right to cancel under consumer law

Please read this clause — it is the one most likely to differ from what you expect.

For most things bought online you have 14 days to change your mind. That right does not apply to a class, jam or workshop booked for a specific date. Under regulation 28(1)(h) of the Consumer Contracts (Information, Cancellation and Additional Charges) Regulations 2013, services related to leisure activities supplied on a specific date or period are excluded from the cancellation right.

This is not us opting out of your rights — it is a statutory exemption, and it exists because a place held for a specific date cannot be resold once that date passes.

The 14-day right does apply to memberships and class passes, because they are not tied to a date. See clause 6 and the membership terms.

Our own cancellation policy (clause 6) is more generous than the law requires, and applies in addition to any rights you do have.

6. Cancellations, refunds and changes

Set out in full in the Cancellation and Refund Policy, which forms part of these terms. In summary:

  • If we cancel, you get a full refund. Always, automatically, without asking.
  • If the venue changes and you cannot make it, that counts as us cancelling. Full refund, whatever the notice.
  • If you cancel, what you get back depends on how much notice you give.

We may change the advertised teacher, and occasionally the format, where someone is ill or unavailable. Where the teacher was clearly the reason to book, tell us and we will refund you.

7. Late arrival and fitness to take part

Acro classes warm up for a reason. If you arrive after the warm-up we may decline to let you join, or ask you to sit out the parts you are not warm for. This is a safety decision, not an administrative one, and it does not entitle you to a refund.

We may also decline participation, without refund, where someone appears unfit to take part safely — including being under the influence of alcohol or drugs.

What acro involves, what you confirm about your health, and how physical contact works in a class are set out in Taking Part — Risk and Health, which forms part of these terms. Please read it before your first class.

7a. Access needs

We want classes to be open to as many people as possible. Each event page carries the access information we have for the venue — such as step-free access, toilets, changing space and how to get there. Venues are not ours, so some of that is outside our control.

If you have a disability or access need, tell us before you book, or when you book, at bookings@southlondonacro.co.uk. We will tell you honestly what the venue and the class involve, and make the reasonable adjustments we can — for example to how material is taught or demonstrated, or where you can sit out. If we cannot make a class work for you and you have already paid, we will refund you in full.

8. Behaviour, and our right to remove someone

Acro involves physical contact and trust. We expect everyone to ask before touching, to respect a no first time, and to treat other people well.

We may refuse entry to, or remove, anyone whose behaviour makes the space unsafe or unwelcoming — without refund. We would much rather do that than lose the people it is aimed at. Where we remove someone we will tell them why.

We may also decline future bookings from someone we have removed.

9. Venues

Many of our classes run in venues we do not own. You must follow the venue's own rules, including on footwear, food, access and parking, and we may pass on any charge a venue makes because of damage you cause.

We are not responsible for the venue's own acts or omissions, or for a venue becoming unavailable at short notice — though if that happens, clause 6 applies and you are refunded.

10. Your belongings

Please do not bring valuables. We are not responsible for loss of or damage to personal property brought to a class, except where the loss is caused by our negligence. Venues are shared and often unlocked.

11. Our responsibility to you

Nothing in these terms limits or excludes our liability for:

  • death or personal injury caused by our negligence;
  • fraud or fraudulent misrepresentation;
  • any other liability that cannot lawfully be limited or excluded.

A term that tried to would be void, so we have not written one.

Subject to that, and because you are a consumer:

  • we are responsible for loss or damage you suffer that is a foreseeable result of our breaking this contract or failing to use reasonable care and skill;
  • we are not responsible for loss or damage that is not foreseeable, or for losses arising from your own failure to follow instructions or to tell us about a relevant injury or condition;
  • we are not liable for business losses — we supply our services for private, recreational use, and if you use them for any commercial purpose we have no liability for lost profit, lost business, business interruption or lost opportunity.

12. Events outside our control

We are not liable for failing to provide a class where the cause is outside our reasonable control — including severe weather, transport failure, power or water loss at a venue, industrial action, illness of the only available teacher, epidemic, fire, flood, or an act or restriction of government.

If that happens you still get a full refund under clause 6. This clause protects us from liability beyond the price paid; it is not a way of keeping your money.

13. Course material

Class content, sequences, handouts, videos and written material remain ours (or the teacher's). You are welcome to film yourself and your own training, with the consent of anyone in shot — see the Photography Policy. Please do not film a teacher's explanation or material in order to republish or teach it elsewhere without asking.

14. Your personal information

Covered by the Privacy Notice, which forms part of these terms.

15. Complaints

Please tell us first, at bookings@southlondonacro.co.uk. Most things are fixable and we would rather fix them than have you write us off. We aim to respond within 5 working days.

We do not currently take part in an alternative dispute resolution scheme. We are not obliged to, and would rather say so plainly than point at an option that does not exist. Your right to go to court, and all your statutory rights, are unaffected.

16. General

Changes to these terms. We may update them. The version that applies to your booking is the version you accepted when you made it — later changes are not applied retrospectively, and we keep a record of which version that was.

Severability. If any part of these terms is found to be unenforceable, the rest continues to apply.

No waiver. If we do not insist on something immediately, that does not stop us doing so later.

Third parties. Only you and we have rights under this contract. Nobody else may enforce it under the Contracts (Rights of Third Parties) Act 1999.

Transfer. You may not transfer your rights under these terms without our agreement (see clause 2 on transferring a place). We may transfer ours — in particular to South London Acro CIC once it is incorporated — and if we do, your rights are unaffected and we will tell you.

Governing law. These terms are governed by English law, and the courts of England and Wales have jurisdiction. If you live in Scotland or Northern Ireland you may bring proceedings in your own courts.

Your statutory rights are unaffected by anything in these terms.
